On 17 June 2025, partners from across Europe gathered online for the official Kick-off Meeting of the DanubeCrafts project, funded by the Interreg Danube Region Programme.
The project aims to revitalize traditional crafts as a driver of sustainable cultural tourism and to establish a new European Cultural Route of Traditional Crafts.
DanubeCrafts will:
- Develop a macro-regional strategy and regional action plans to protect and promote crafts;
- Establish Traditional Crafts Centres to support artisans, youth, and local communities;
- Create a digital platform, mobile app, and interactive itineraries to connect crafts with tourism.
The first activities include data collection, SWOT analyses, and mapping of craft resources across 12 Danube regions. The findings will guide the development of strategies and the design of the route.
The first physical partner meeting will take place in Sarajevo in November 2025, during the Danube Annual Forum.
