Visiting or travelling via Belgium?

From January 27 to March 1, you can only travel to or from Belgium for essential reasons. What is an essential reason?

  • Compelling family reasons, e.g. visiting a child or partner, attending a wedding or a funeral of close family
  • Humanitarian reasons, eg for medical reasons, to help an elderly person
  • Study purposes
  • Residents of border areas
  • Professional reasons
  • Miscellaneous, eg to take care of an animal, move

​You need a declaration of honor to prove this. You're not living in Belgium and visiting Belgium? Then you'll have to do a corona test 72 hours before your departure to Belgium. Are you departing from Belgium and need a PCR test for the country of destination? To avoid having to queue, please register in advance.

Adjusted rules for business traveler

Are you visiting Belgium for essential business travel? As a business traveller you must fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) 48 hours before arrival and present the result of a PCR test of maximum 72 hours old. Ask your Belgian employer to also complete a Business Travel Abroad form in advance. Indicate in your PLF “travelling for professional purposes ” and enter your BTA certificate number.
